Emergency Vet Clinics in Orlando, WV

Friendly Emergency Vet Clinic in Orlando,
West Virginia Most veterinary clinics in Orlando, WV are bound by specific hours. However, a vet hospital isn't. They are a 24 hour medical facility that responds to all types of pet emergencies at any time of the day or night. Pet emergencies often times occur out of the blue and at unexpected times. Due to this, pet owners in Orlando view animal hospitals with admiration and the peace of mind that good pet care is just around the corner no matter the time and how dire the situation. Most general practices provide some emergency care, some dedicated clinics in null, null specialize in emergencies only, and other pet health care facilities provide a spectrum of services, including emergency care. About 15 percent of small animal practices in the U.S. are accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, a voluntary program that has stringent requirements for care, service and medical protocol.

Trained Pet Doctors in Orlando, West Virginia

Speaking of good pet care, a Orlando veterinary hospital is just as good as the staff and doctors that operate it. The same goes for vet clinics as well. However a hospital employs a larger staff and has more experienced specialists in its fleet capable of handling all pet emergencies. If your pet has a specific medical condition or disease, it is always a good idea to check with the local null veterinary hospital for all the types of pet services they provide. A pet's health and well being is the pet owner's responsibility and in situations like these it is always advisable to be prepared for both the expected and the unexpected. Training among veterinarians also varies. Although specialty training is not required to administer emergency and critical care, some vets pursue internships or residency programs to obtain additional experience. Some also become Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, which requires an additional three years of intense training in treating life-threatening conditions after receiving a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

Emergency Veterinarian in Orlando
West Virginia Most veterinary clinics in Orlando simply do not have the right equipment to conduct detailed scans and x-rays on a pet. Hence they always recommend that a pet be examined at a hospital for any serious medical condition or symptoms. A veterinary hospital can accommodate different types of pets. They have the capability to conduct in-depth brain scans and X-rays of all parts of the body to identify potential fractures, broken bones and/or diseases. Whatever type of provider you choose for your pet, be warned that emergency services might take a chunk out of your wallet. Veterinarians and members interviewed for this story acknowledged that emergency care for pets can be quite costly due to factors like round-the-clock staffing; technology that may include ultrasound machines, oxygen cages or fluid pumps; and medicine or supplies. The costs for care vary depending on the case, but most require a fee for the initial exam. At the Orlando Pet Emergency Clinic, the base fee is $79, but $110 is not uncommon in West Virginia. The American Veterinary Medical Association says there is no standard model for the industry, but some emergency vets require payment before treatment. Thirty-four percent of poll respondents reported paying between $251 and $500 for an emergency visit. Sixteen percent spent as much as $1,000 or more.

Do I need pet insurance for my pet?

Absolutely! I compare pet insurance to car insurance…they are very much the same in concept. Your car insurance does not cover your routine oil change and maintenance but it does cover a fender bender or a major accident. Pet insurance is the same. It does not cover routine care like vaccines and heartworm prevention but it will cover if your pet gets sick or has an emergency.

When you purchase pet insurance it is best to obtain it BEFORE your pet has any medical conditions so pets that are very young are best candidates. This is not to say that your 3 year old dog will not qualify for pet insurance but depending on its health status, it may not be covered for all conditions. Some pets cannot obtain coverage, these pets are those that are very old or currently have a chronic condition.

Several pet insurance companies are available. Those I am most familiar with are Trupanion, Embrace and VPI. To my knowledge, VPI is the only pet insurance that will cover non-dog or cat pets (i.e. birds and exotics.) Most pet insurance companies cover 80-90% of medical claims with the out of pocket expense being 10-20% after the deductible for the accident or illness has been met. For example, let’s say your dog eats a squeaky toy and has to have surgery to remove it. The exam, hospitalization, surgery and postoperative care and medications would probably be about $3000. A typical deductible is $250, so $3000-$250=$2750 will be the amount owed after you pay the $250 deductible. Then, 80-90% of the $2750 will be covered (depending on the insurance company) through the insurance. So if 90% is covered then the insurance company would cover $2475 of the costs and you would pay a total of $525 for a $3000 veterinary invoice. Some insurance companies (Trupanion) even have Express Pay and will cover those costs upfront without you having to pay first and then be reimbursed.

With veterinary medicine becoming so advanced and the opportunity to save lives without worrying about costs, pet insurance is a wise financial decision. When you have pet insurance you will not have to decide whether cost decides a medical decision.
